Do we need a slide for that? Audience-centered slide design
Presentation slides often suffer from a common problem: Too much information. Lots of headlines and bullet points. Random images. Density.
Slide presentations laden with too much content and often an unclear purpose reduce an audience’s interest and ability to understand the presentation.
So, we need to ask the question: Who are these slides for?
They are for the audience.
The first step when creating audience-centered presentations with a clear, consistent, and cohesive message is to ask: Do we need a slide for that?
Dr. Anne Tuominen, Senior Learning Designer, Continuum College, walks through examples of both good and bad presentation design, shares four key principles of audience-centered design, and offers several take-home “design challenges” in this 30-minute presentation.
