Emergencies and Class Cancellations

Chances are that at some point you will face technical issues, inclement weather, or other circumstances that disrupt your course. Here’s some information on what to do.

Important! Print this page — you may need to refer to this information when you lose connectivity or power, so have a hard copy handy!

Be Prepared

Are you prepared if you have computer problems? If your Internet connection is down? Plan ahead for upcoming tasks and due dates in case any unexpected problems accessing course materials occur. Also check out the UW Online Dashboard and the UW eOutage Alerts for announcements of any planned network downtime.

Class Cancellations

Class or meetings may be cancelled in the following situations:

  • If you are ill or have an emergency and cannot meet your students. If this is the case, notify your program manager no later than noon on the day your class meets. Missed sessions will be rescheduled.
  • Inclement weather. Call (206) 547-INFO or listen to KUOW (94.9 FM) radio for snow closure information.
  • Low enrollment prior to the start of the quarter. Students and instructors will be notified at the earliest opportunity.
